Hello and Welcome

Welcome to the Newberry Middle School Media Center blog. I'll be recommending great books and want to hear from students and faculty about books that you're enjoying. Please be sure to share often! Don't forget to check our my recommended book list on the Destiny catalog, too. Just click on "Mrs. Coleman's Book List" to get some great suggestions.

  1. I am so glad Mrs. Coleman has started this blog. It is a great way to share book information. Several books that I have read over the past few months have been very good and different. The Same Stuff as Stars was about a young girl, along with her younger brother who were both dumped by their mother. She dumped them on an old, old great-grandmother who had nothing. Read it to find out how they survive.
Another book I finally read in its entirety was The Dairy of Anne Frank. Of course, it was about a young girl in hiding from the Nazis during WWII. It is an honest account of her feelings about people, growing up, and being in hiding. It will really connect to the novels Mrs. Rush's classes will be reading soon in class.
Dreamland is a very mature book by Sarah Dessen. It is about a high school girl who gets mixed up in some extremely tough situations. Her sister disappears, she makes the cheerleading squad, her boyfriend is involved in illegal activities. Read to find out how the main character almost lost everything important to her.
